Chill N Do Art was an idea that came about in 2016 after the initial run of my solo show YellowZoned. During one of my post-show interactions, it came to mind that there was a gap in regards to women of color, Black women specifically, gaining access to mental health resources. My introduction to the arts, specifically theatre, was through programs such as The A.M.Y Project and Children's Peace Theatre. Due to this fact, the idea of creating my own workshop series was a goal of mine.

I then began exploring the idea of play being a form of mental health coping. The workshop was created originally as a place for Black women to share, heal, create, and be inspired to take time for themselves. Geared toward radicalized women, the workshop learning practical DIY projects, crafting and wellness in an inhabited space. I believe that equity should be an overall goal for all peoples as increased education and access for marginalized groups can directly and indirectly have a positive impact on the lives of everyone.
